Gail Gaily Mama Hale Atkinson

Gail Atkinson, age 67, of Hammond, passed away at home with her family on March 10, 2010. Gail was a deeply loved mother, grandmother and friend. She was born July 11, 1942 in Powell County, KY, but was a longtime resident of Northwest Indiana. Her first career was as a successful hairdresser but she transferred her talent to working as a floral designer and found true happiness. Mom's joys in life were family, her pets and gardening. She loved spring. Gail is survived by her son, Shannon Joe Atkinson, his wife, Cheryl and their children: Kayla and Kyle of Calumet Township; daughter, Renee Atkinson Fox, her husband, Jamie and their children: Lucas and Ava of Albuquerque, NM; her son, Ronnie Powell, his wife Louise and their children: Rhonda, Jennifer, and David(spouses Scott, Thad and Kathy) and their grandchildren: Abigail, Andrew, Emily, Jacob, Sarah, Adrian and Angelica of Paris, KY; daughter-in-law, Sonya Crowe and her children: Austin and Ethan; her dear cat, Kit Kat; and many friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Thomas Atkinson; son, Kenneth Clayton Crowe; grandson, Carl Everett Powell; parents: Bruce and Ethel; and her precious pets; Midnight and Baby Boy. A memorial service to celebrate Gail and her life will be held Saturday, March 27, 2010 at Ross Baptist Church, 4790 Noble Street, Gary, Indiana, 46408 beginning at 3:00 PM.
