Fred David Roempler

Fred David Roempler, age 79, of Crete, Illinois passed away peacefully on October 13, 2024 while watching the Cup Series. Fred is the loving husband for fifty years to Mary Roempler; father to Freddy (Angie) Roempler and the late Brian Bommarito; step-father to Sherry (Jeff) Cullen and William (Shannon) Keirse; proud grandfather to Freddy IV, Catlin, Kelly (Bo), Nick, Nathan, Corey, Brooke, Brett, Amanda, Rachel and Erika; great-grandfather to six; cherished brother to the late Carol Leuke; fond uncle to Sharon, Paul and Kevin; friend to many. Fred was the owner and operator of several Standard Oil gas and service stations in his career. His first station was at 79th and Jeffrey in Chicago then 179th and Paulina in Blue Island, IL, and his last station at Ridge Road and Torrence Ave in Lansing, IL. Fred's love for racing started when his parents took him to his first race at Soldier Field as a child. From there over the years he was the owner of several stock cars, which competed at local tracks such as Raceway Park in Blue Island, Illianna Motor Speedway and Grundy County, as well as the ARCO racing series. After retirement at the gas stations, he started a shock business for race cars, which took him to various race tracks across the country. Racing was truly Fred's passion throughout his life. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
