He leaves behind a legacy of love and dedication as a cherished husband, father, and Papaw. David's life was defined by his passion for fixing things, enjoying the outdoors, and treasuring moments with his family. He served as the unofficial groundskeeper of Black Oak Little League, a role that reflected his commitment to community and service.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Roland and Isabel Peterson; as well as his siblings, Ken (Ruthie), Brian (Sue), Charles (Sylvia) Peterson, and Darlene (Joy) Peterson. David is survived by his devoted wife of 38 years, Peggy (nee Davis); his sons, David, Jr. (Kelly) Peterson, and Joseph (Heather) Peterson; stepson, Dean Davis; his five Peterson grandsons, Cade, Jett, Wyatt David, Emmitt, and Levi Roland; along with his granddaughter, Desiree Davis; and grandson, James Davis; great-grandchildren, Corban, Ally and Addy; and his sister, Mary (Robert) Randonis; as well as numerous other family and friends who will carry on his spirit and legacy.
As a proud US Army Veteran and retiree of Ford Motor Company, David's life was marked by service and dedication. Family and friends are invited to honor his memory at a Visitation on May 11, 2024, from 10:00 AM to 12:30 PM at Kuiper Funeral Home, 9039 Kleinman Road, Highland, IN 46322, followed by a Funeral Service at 12:30 PM. Burial to follow at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens, 8178 Cline Avenue, Crown Point, IN 46307.
