John Calvin Pendleton, Jr., 88, passed away November 25, 2024 at Beacon Place in Greensboro. John was born on July 1, 1936 in Greensboro, and was the only child of John Calvin Sr. and Molly Helen Young Pendleton.
He was a highly accomplished artist and painter and loved hosting super bowl parties to cheer on the Washington Redskins. He was the owner and operator of Pendleton Sign Company for over 40 years. His talented works can still be seen throughout the triad on billboards, store fronts, vehicles and more. His children fondly remember the outfield of Greensboro Grasshoppers stadium where he constructed and painted all the sponsor art.
John is survived by his wife of 65 years, Ruth Ann Davis Pendleton; his three children, Michael Pendleton (Alesia), Teresa Pendleton, Jennifer Pendleton Johnson (Joe); and his three grandchildren; Carlie Pendleton Desjardins (David), John Pendleton (Brianna) and Wesley Misenheimer.
At the end of his life, he and the family were blessed with incredible care provided by Hospice Authora Care of Greensboro. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Hospice Authora Care of Greensboro.
A Celebration of John's Life will be held Monday December 2, 2024 at 12 p.m. at Groometown Baptist Church, 4202 Groometown Road, Greensboro, NC 27407, officiated by Pastor Jeff Beck. Burial will follow at Guilford Memorial Park in Greensboro, NC.
