.HIGH POINT – Mrs. E. E. (Nickie) Nicholson Perry, a strong-willed lady who truly “did it her way'', died at noon, Friday, December 12, 2014, at Hospice Home in High Point. She had been in ill health for the past year.
The last of eight siblings, Nickie loved her native state of Maryland, however; she had lived in this area for the past sixty two years. She took great pride in the fact that she was a female business owner, and was the sole landlord of Perry Properties. Her civic activities included volunteering as a Red Cross Gray Lady for over twenty years at High Point Hospital, and delivering for Mobile Meals. She was a member of Emerywood Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, brothers and sisters, Nickie was also preceded in death, on June 30, 1986, by her husband, Eric Edwin (E.E.) Perry.
Surviving are her daughter, Katherine (Kathy) Perry McDowell and her husband Ken of High Point; two grandchildren, Pamela McDowell of High Point and Lee McDowell and his wife Donna of Garner; four great-grandchildren, Kyndal Sutherland and her husband Wayne of High Point, Brooke Adduono and her husband Jayme of Thunder Bay Canada, Chad McDowell and his fiancee Molly Williams of High Point, and Mary Beth Perry and her husband Heath of Charlotte. Also surviving are four great-great-grandchildren, Graham and Tucker Sutherland, and Cameron and Elizabeth Adduono, and her beloved pet, Kaycee.
A graveside service will be at 11:00 am, Tuesday, in Floral Garden Memorial Park Cemetery with the Reverend Dr. Robert U. Ferguson, Jr. officiating. The family will visit with friends following the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Emerywood Baptist Church, 1300 Country Club Drive, High Point, NC 27262, Mobile Meals of High Point, Post Office Box 6666, High Point, NC 27262 or to Hospice of the Piedmont, 1801 Westchester Drive, High Point, NC 27262.
