It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Sabri N. Aknouk, 94, on November 14, 2024. Sabri was born in Cairo, Egypt, and was immensely proud of his heritage and the life he built in the United States.
Sabri was a beloved husband, father, and grandfather. He is survived by his devoted wife, Fawzia, with whom he shared a loving marriage for many years. Sabri was a loving father to Richard, Nabil, and Cindy, and a cherished grandfather to six grandchildren, who brought him great joy.
Known for his gentle spirit and unwavering generosity, Sabri had a way of making everyone feel special. His home was always open, his arms ever ready to welcome you, and his heart full of love. Whether you were family, a friend, or a stranger, you could always count on him for a kind word, a warm smile, or a story that would make you laugh.
Sabri was a true embodiment of selflessness. He was always the first to offer a listening ear, the warmest hug, or a joke to brighten your day. He had a remarkable talent for making everyone feel at home—whether through his legendary cooking, his infectious laughter, or his timeless stories. His humor was as uplifting as his warmth, and he found joy in the simplest things.
To his family, Sabri was a rock of unwavering support and unconditional love. To his friends, he was a confidant and a source of endless joy. To everyone he met, he was a light that brightened the room. He taught us that life is about kindness, laughter, respect, and love, living each day embodying these values. His welcoming nature will live on in our hearts, leaving a legacy of love and joy that will never be forgotten.
He was a passionate gardener who found peace and satisfaction tending to his plants. He also had a love for travel, always eager to explore new places and experience different cultures. Sabri was an avid fan of sports, especially the New York Yankees and the New York Knicks, with whom he shared many fond memories over the years.
Family and friends will gather to celebrate his life, and his memory will live on in the hearts of those who loved him.
A visitation for Sabri will be held Sunday, November 17, 2024 from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Vernon C. Wagner Funeral Homes, 125 W Old Country Road, Hicksville, NY 11801. A funeral service will occur Monday, November 18, 2024 from 11:30 AM to 12:30 PM at St. Mark's Coptic Orthodox Church, 90 Woodbury Rd, Woodbury, NY 11797. A committal service will occur Monday, November 18, 2024 from 1:15 PM to 2:00 PM at Pinelawn Memorial Park and Arboretum, 2030 Wellwood Ave, Farmingdale, NY 11735.
