Rich is preceded in death by his first wife, Catherine Rogers, his father Alfred Rogers, and his mother Virginia Starrett Rogers.
He is survived by his wife, Belinda Mills Rogers of Tomball, Texas along with his two beloved dogs Pearl and Star, stepson Brandon Herzog of Houston, Texas, sister Barbara and husband Mike Szabados of Virginia, sister Mary MacDonald of New York, sister Alicia Anglin of Florida, sister Eileen Dwyer and husband Don of New York, sister Sheila Rogers Capella and husband Ray of Pennsylvania, brother Dan Rogers and wife Corinne of New York, brother Kevin Rogers and wife Cathy of New York, brother Tim Rigers and wife Christine of New York, and brother John Rogers and wife Dawn of New York. Along with numerous other nieces, nephews and friends.
He graduated from Saint Dominic’s Catholic High School in 1975 and went on to attend Kings Point Naval Academy graduated in 1979.
After graduating from Kingspoint, he started his career on a ship serving in the Merchant Marines and Navy Reserve. He was a United States navy reserve officer from January 1, 1995, until February 2, 2013. He served his country honorably during Gulf Storm.
He later went to work at Willhelmsem Ship Services as a salesman and was there for 22 years before retiring in 2020.
He was a very active member and acolyte of St Ignatius of Loyola Catholic Church in Spring, Texas. As well as being a Grand Knight in the Knights of Columbus.
Rich will always be remembered by his bright smile and his love of people and all the many friendships he had from all over the world. He was a very loved man and will be missed greatly.
A visitation for Richard will be held Friday, September 8, 2023 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Vernon C. Wagner Funeral Homes, 125 Old Country Rd, Hicksville, New York 11801. A funeral mass will occur Saturday, September 9, 2023 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Our Lady Of Mercy RC Church, 500 S Oyster Bay Rd, Hicksville, New York 11801. A committal service will occur Saturday, September 9, 2023 from 11:30 AM to 12:00 PM at St Charles Cemetery, 2015 Wellwood Ave, Farmingdale, New York 11785.
