Michael J. McKenna, 82, of Westbury, NY, passed away on January 12, 2024. He was born on June 20, 1941, in London, England. Michael served in the Navy during the Vietnam War. After his military service, he had a successful career as a foreman in the New York Housing Authority for 27 years.
Michael was a devoted family man and is survived by his loving spouse, Anne McKenna. He is also survived by his sons, Robert, Brian, and Neil McKenna, his daughter-in-law, Bridget McKenna, his grandson, Rory McKenna, and his son Brian's partner, Jodi Meschkow, and his son Neil’s wife, Linda Ryan. He was preceded in death by his father, Robert McKenna, and his mother, Kathleen McKenna.
In his free time, Michael enjoyed watching soccer and was a former coach and board member in the Hicksville American Soccer Club. He was also a voracious reader and a regular at the Hicksville Library. Michael had a passion for poker, enjoyed going to the gym and having lunch with his friends, and had a great booming laugh. During his retirement, he indulged in his love for reading, watching Manchester United, listening to Irish music, and watching murder mysteries. However, above all, he cherished his family.
A wake will be held on Monday, January 15, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 at Wagner's Funeral Home in Hicksville, NY. The address is 125 W Old Country Rd, Hicksville, NY 11801.
