SYLVIA ANN FRYE CARSWELL CONNELLY SPRINGS-Sylvia Ann Frye Carswell, 72, of Connelly Springs passed away on November 2, 2014 at her residence surrounded by her loving family. Born on April 14, 1942 in Catawba County, she was the daughter of the late Verlin Urie and Charlsie Etta Starr Frye. Before her marriage, Sylvia was employed at various hosiery mills. After her marriage in 1967, she devoted her life to being a wife and mother. The love that Sylvia had for her daughter was evident in everything she did. She was married to Bobby Carswell and had one daughter, Mandy Lane Carswell, whom she adored. In addition to being a daughter, Mandy has lovingly served along with her father as Sylvia’s caregiver for the last year of Sylvia’s life. Sylvia passed into eternity surrounded by the care of those who had attended to her every need during her last illness. She loved flowers and nurtured them both in and around her home. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a beloved nephew, Derek Frye. Survivors include her loving husband of 47 years, Bobby Carswell; daughter, Mandy Carswell; brother, Dwight Frye and wife Phyllis; nephew, Sean Frye all of Newton; sister -in-law Wanda Carswell of Connelly Springs; a special sister-in-law, Faye Peeler, who provided many meals; niece, Susan Haire and husband David; and she had a special place in her heart for her great-nephew, Alex Haire, who brought her flowers. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Wednesday, November 5, 2014 at 1 PM at Catawba Funerals & Cremations. Burial will follow at Catawba Memorial Park. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 12-1 PM at the funeral home. The family would like to thank Guardian Heathcare and Hospice of Burke County for the dedication, love and care which accompanied the services provided during Sylvia’s final days. This gratitude is especially extended to her primary nurse, Traci Boyles, whom the family has come to regard as an angel. The family is so grateful for the prayers, cards, many acts of kindness and all the wonderful food that has been prepared and brought to their home by members of the Lowman family and other neighbors. Throughout her life, Sylvia had enjoyed the company of several special pets. They were Baby, Lady, Prince, and Dusty. As a result, Sylvia has requested that memorial Donations be made to either the Humane Society, 3224 20th Ave SE, Hickory, NC 28602, or Hospice of Burke County, 1721 Enon Rd, Valdese, NC 28690.
