Randall Ward Davis

Randall Ward Davis, 57, of Hickory, NC, passed away on February 17, 2016 at Carolina East Medical Center in New Bern, NC. Born July 28, 1958 in Moore County, NC, he was the son of Betty Gallimore Davis and the late Walter Ward Davis.

Randall was a 1976 graduate of St. Stephens High School where he played football, basketball and baseball. He attended Western Carolina University. As a longtime resident of the Hickory area, he worked in the NC pottery industry and was passionate about western North Carolina art and culture. He loved gardening, watching collegiate and professional sports, and spending time with his beloved rescue dog “Buddy”, who was often seen riding in the front seat of his car around town.

In addition to his mother, Randall is survived by his sisters, Lisa Shaffer and husband David of Raleigh, NC, Jennifer Berget of York, SC and Leigh Anna Lloyd and husband Tom of Pittsboro, NC; niece, Sydney Shaffer; and nephews, Avery Shaffer and Nathan Lloyd.

A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 27, 2016 in the Chapel of Drum Funeral Home in Hickory with the Rev. Jim Church officiating.

The family will receive friends from 12:30 p.m. – 1:45 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
