Paul Willis, Jr. of Hildebran passed into the hands of the Heavenly Father Wednesday, February 10th at Frye Regional Medical Center after a three week courageous fight with Pulmonary Fibrosis. Mr. Willis was born July 25, 1940 and was the son of the late Gaynell and Paul Willis. Also Hal, Bill and John Willis and his canine companion Joey. Surviving are his wife of forty six years, Judy Willis of the home. Three sisters, Marie Wilson of Maiden, Betty Draper of Oregon and Agnes Buff of Hickory. Two brothers, Sam Willis of Conover, Ronnie Willis of South Carolina.
Mr. Willis was of the Protestant faith and attended Mountain View Baptist Church.
Mr. Willis is also survived by four children, daughters, Vicky Annas and husband Keith of Granite Falls and Terri Kiziah and husband Kevin of Newton. Two sons, Danny Willis and fiancé Melissa Harrington of Hickory and Jeff Willis and wife, Eileen of Granite Falls. Eight grandchildren, Jesica Cooke and husband Chad, Derick Willis and wife Angela, Hannah Davis and husband Adrian, Stephanie Wright and husband Chris, Daniel Annas, Kylie Kiziah, Jaci Kiziah and Kassi Kiziah. Six great grandchildren, Hunter and Zackery Willis, Adysan and Blake Cooke, Allie Moore and Beau Davis. He dearly loved his grandchildren and great grandchildren and they will miss him very much.
Mr. Willis retired from Hickory Business Furniture with 25 years of service. Before his health started to decline he liked nothing more than to fish at Lake James and catch those Walleyes. He was an avid fan of football, in the early years, Redskins and presently the Panthers. He was member of the Spa Athletic Club where he had many friends. He will be missed by his lunch buddies at Wendy’s.
A service of remembrance will be held on Friday, February 12th at 3 PM at Catawba Funeral Home with Pastor John Compton presiding. Burial will be at Catawba Memorial Park following the service. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 2 – 3 PM.
