Mrs. Nancy Pope Waters

Nancy was born September 5th, 1936 in Catawba County to the late Fred Patrick and Virginia Link Pope.

She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Harold Dean Pope and David Link Pope.

Before she was married, she served as secretary to the President of Clevenger College; and then worked for 27 years at Durham Life Insurance Company. She was a member of Highland United Methodist Church where she was the church pianist and organist for over 50 years. She also taught Sunday School and piano lessons.

Surviving are her husband of 56 years, James Franklin Waters of Hickory, daughter, Dawn Waters McGilvery and husband Daniel of West Palm Beach FL., son, James “Jimmy” Dean Waters of Hickory, son, Jonathan Patrick Waters and wife Jennifer of Hickory, grandson, Joshua Chandler Waters of Hickory, granddaughter, Jenna Caroline Waters of Hickory, a sister, Kathy Pope Hollar and her husband Dwight, and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

Services will be held at Highland United Methodist Church on Tuesday, June 21st, 2011 at 11:00 A.M. with the Reverend David Hobson officiating.

Entombment will follow at Catawba Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends prior to the service from 9:30 A.M. until 10:45 A.M. at the church.
