Michael Eugene Burleson

Michael “ Mikey Bear” Eugene Burleson, age 34, of Hickory, passed away on Monday, August 14, 2017 at his residence. Michael was born January 2, 1983 in Catawba County to Ronald Burleson of Conover and Elizabeth “Liz” Stillwell Burleson. He was employed as a custodian with a commercial janitorial service.

Mikey Bear loved playing football at St. Stephens High School. He loved to sing and had even performed at a few events. He enjoyed working on guns, socializing and being with family and friends. He had a gift for making people laugh and seeing the bright side of things. He was the tech go-to of the family and had a gift of understanding all sorts of gadgets.

He was preceded in death by his brother, James Thomas Burleson.

In addition to his parents, Michael is survived by his step-mother, Penney Norton; brother, David Michael Norton; step-grandmother, Brenda Liley and best friend, Eric Spencer.

A Visitation of Friends will be held from 1:00 p.m. – 2:30 p.m. on Monday, August 21, 2017 in the Chapel of Drum Funeral Home in Hickory.
