Mr. Melvin Harold Ledford

NEWTON – Melvin Harold Ledford, 66, passed away on May 25, 2014 at Catawba Regional Hospice. Born March 27, 1948 he was preceded in death by his loving wife of 35 years, Ora Walker Ledford. He is also preceded by a brother, Arlen Ledford and a beloved aunt, Dollie Ledford who raised him. Melvin began working at Century Furniture in April of 1964 at the age of 16 in the finishing department and continued to work there for the next 50 years. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather who enjoyed spending time with his family. Melvin enjoyed working in his yard and bird watching. When he wasn’t outside he enjoyed watching western movies. He is survived by his children, Tammy Gross Bradshaw and husband, Dennis, Kathy Gross Noble and husband Stephen and Angela Michelle Gross; grandchildren, Latasha Bradshaw, Ashley Bradshaw, Ryan Livingston, Katelyn Noble, Keegan Noble and Kennedie Noble; great grandchild, Noah Bradshaw and brother Clarence Rudisill. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, May 28th at Catawba Funerals & Cremations at 4:00 PM with Stephen Noble officiating. Burial will be at Catawba Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Stephen Noble, Keegan Noble, Ryan Livingston, Dean Walker, Jerome Hartso and Tyler Williams. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 2 – 4:00 PM.
