Born May 8, 1933 in Pensacola, FL, she was the daughter of the late Robert Clarence Haven and Ann Etta Campbell Haven. A member of Christ Lutheran Church in Hickory, she previously was a school teacher where she taught in a number of schools and was an instructor at Western Piedmont Community College and Lenoir Rhyne College. She was a member of Zeta Tau Zeta Sorority.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Robert Ann Taylor.
Those left to cherish her memory are her husband of 57 years, Edward “Bernie” Oyaas of the home; and three cousins, Murdock Campbell, Flora Woodward, and Gillis Mellen.
A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, September 3, 2021 in the Chapel of Drum Funeral Home in Hickory with inurnment to follow in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends following the service.
