Marjorie Vivian Rist

She was born on July 18, 1934 in Abington, PA to the late Evelyn and Burnette Lobb.

Marjorie was a member of Sovereign Grace OPC in Hickory, NC and a resident of NC for 23 years. At the age of six, she was placed in the orphanage, Carson Valley School in Flourtown, PA, after her father died. Marjorie also experienced the foster care system but eventually returned to the orphanage until the age of eighteen.

Marjorie met her husband, Jules, at church and they married on November 16, 1968. They moved to Virginia in 1972 and became members at Grace Orthodox Presbyterian Church in Vienna, VA. Gifted in hospitality, Marjorie served many meals to church family in their beautifully decorated home. She was extremely talented in all types of needlework and she crocheted numerous afghans for many loved ones. Marjorie was a giver. Like Dorcas of the Bible, she possessed multiple abilities that she used to bless others. An accomplished seamstress and watercolor artist, Marjorie loved music, decorating, and cleanliness. Most of all, she loved her family.

Those left to cherish her memory are her devoted husband of 47 years, Jules Rist; children, Robbin David McCuen (Michele) of Phoenix, AZ, Patrick McCuen (Sue, deceased) of OR, Kristina Dehaas (David) of Hickory, NC, Timothy McCuen (Diane, deceased) of DE, Mark Rist (Phoebe) of VA, Carole Hubing (Alan) of PA, Jennifer Grise (Clay) of Hickory, NC, Heidi Rist of Vancouver, BC, Emily Wickham (Mark) of Newton, NC; sister, Eleanor King of VT; brothers, Ralph Lobb of VT and Neil Lobb (deceased); half-siblings, Diane Starkey, Charles Leonard, and Thomas Leonard all of PA; 24 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren.

A graveside service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Monday, February 22, 2016 at Oakwood Cemetery in Hickory with Dr. Steve Scott officiating.

The family will receive friends on Monday, February 22, 2016 prior to the service from 1:00 p.m. until 2:30 p.m. at Drum Funeral Home in Hickory.

The family would like to invite friends and family after the service for food and fellowship at Grace Covenant PCA in Hickory.
