He was born in Catawba County on December 30, 1941, to the late Harry Rockett and Hazel Bowman Drum.
Larry was a long-time faithful member of St. Stephens Lutheran Church Missouri Synod; owner/operator of Drum’s Used Auto Parts/24 hour wrecker service; member and former president of Riverside Moose Lodge. Larry was on the Catawba County Planning Board. He served many years for the St. Stephens Volunteer Fire Department Station 4.
A well-respected 15-year employee of Hickory Funeral Home, Larry took pleasure in serving families in their time of need. Thoughtful and diligent, he will be deeply missed by the staff of Hickory Funeral Home.
A loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend, he was a caring and generous soul who spent his life giving to others and to his community.
He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Jackie Bryant Drum of the home; daughters Kimberly Wright and husband Chad of Conover and Manda Tucker and husband John of Granite Falls; son Bradley Drum of Hickory; grandson Gage Wright of Conover; granddaughter Samantha Hendrix and husband Jake of Granite Falls; Russian daughter Ksusha Lenkeit of Stamford, CT; sister Jean Sigmon of Halifax; brothers Roger Drum and wife Rita of Hickory and Mike Drum and wife Terry of Taylorsville; sister-in-law Linda Drum; several nieces, nephews, and many friends.
The family will receive friends Sunday October 24, 2021 from 2:00pm to 4:00 pm at St. Stephens Lutheran Church Mo-Synod.
Funeral service will be held Sunday, October 24, 2021 at 4:00 pm at St. Stephens Lutheran Church Mo-Synod with Reverend David Ziehr officiating.
Burial will follow in church cemetery.
