Joyce Ann Franklin Taylor, age 78, of Hickory, NC, passed away on Sunday, February 3, 2019, at her residence. Born July 11, 1940 in Avery County, NC, she was the daughter of the late Teddy Roosevelt Franklin and Marie Ervin McGee Franklin. A member of Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, she retired from Roy Chester Office Furniture. Joyce enjoyed cooking, going to Holden Beach and to Cherokee.
In addition to her parents, Joyce was preceded in death by her son, Terry Ray White; brothers, Hobert Franklin and Homer Franklin; sisters, Garcilla “Cil” Hastings and Charlene Dabbs.
Survivors include her husband of 27 years, Jimmy R. Taylor of the home; son, Randy A. White and wife Teresa of Winston, GA; daughters, Lori Conner and husband, Roger of Conover and Lisa Barnett and husband Troy of Hickory; grandchildren, Alex Conner, Kristin Conner, Ashley Barnett, Amber White, Megan Barnett, and Brooke White; great grandchild, Rylee St. Louis; brothers, Jerry Franklin of Vale, Danny Franklin of Rhodhiss and Sidney Franklin of Vale; sisters, Lannie Pennell of Old Fort, NC, and Della Morgan of Winston Salem, NC.
A celebration of Joyce’s life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 7, 2019 in the Chapel of Drum Funeral Home in Hickory with Bishop Dalan Garcia officiating. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens in Hickory.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. – 1:45 p.m. on Thursday, February 7, 2019 at Drum Funeral Home prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be given to Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Women’s Society, 4065 N Center Street, Hickory, NC 28601.
