She was born on November 3, 1926 and was a blessing to her late parents, Ernest Lindsay and Vangie Huffman Lindsay.
Throughout her life, she honored her Lord through service to the church family at First Baptist Church Hildebran. She had a heart for all ages of people and ministered to children as a 5th grade Sunday School teacher, a Sunbeams leader, and nursery volunteer. In addition to meeting spiritual needs of children, she spent her working life meeting the nutritional needs of children as a beloved lunch lady at Hildebran Elementary and Grandview Middle School. She was known for participating in school spirit days and dressing up for Halloween, and she was well-loved by the students whom she served everyday. She ministered to adults in her church family as a member of the choir, WMU leader, and a member of the Hospitality committee. In her latter years, she blessed the most veteran members of her church family by leading the Shut-In ministry. She is remembered by many for sharing delicious meals, homemade Christmas candies, a joyful spirit, and thoughtful cards that always seems to encourage just the right person at just the right time. Eva exemplified living life like Proverbs 31 and loving people like 1 Corinthians 13.
She is survived by her daughter, Paula Stine and son-in-law, Rudy, of Hickory; daughter Teresa Bumgarner and son-in-law, Lanny, of Mountain View; daughter-in-law, Tommie Abernathy of Hildebran; sister, Bobbie Honeycutt Spencer, of Hildebran; granddaughter, Stacie Buff and her husband, George, of Newton; granddaughter, Heidi Hyde and her husband, Gerald, of Hickory; grandson, Shawn Abernathy, of Greensboro; seven great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; and a number of beloved nieces and nephews.
