Earl Leonard King

EARL LEONARD KING HICKORY – Earl Leonard King, 86 of Hickory passed away on March 2, 2016. Born on July 7, 1929, he was the son of the late Charlie and Lillie Bryd King. Earl and his wife Faye owned and operated K & K Hosiery together for many years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and classic country music. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend to all who knew him. Earl and Faye enjoyed traveling; one of their favorite places to visit was Florida. They built a second home in the NC mountains where they spent a lot of their weekends together. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Faye Young King; brothers, Weldon, Frank, and Carl King; sisters, Martha Lefler, Maggie Washburn, and Ruby Mitchell. Survivors include his children, Sandy King Eller and husband Doug of Newton, Michael King of Hickory, David King and wife Gaynell of Hickory, Steven King and wife Amy of Hickory; grandchildren, Jeffrey King, Jason King and wife Christina, Ashley Brown and husband Matthew, Adam King, Brian King; great-grandchildren, Cooper King, Matilyn Brown, Titus King; sister, Helen Self; and a number of nieces and nephews. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Tuesday, March 8, 2016 at 3 PM at Catawba Funerals & Cremations with Pastor Blain Hudson officiating. Burial will follow at Catawba Memorial Park. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 2-3 PM at the funeral home. A special thank you from the family is extended to the Staff of Trinity Ridge.
