Newton--- Billy Ray Stafford 79, of Newton passed away Tuesday, November 11, 2014 at Frye Regional Hospital. Billy was born on May 16, 1935 in Catawba County to the late Wilson and Iva Keller Stafford. In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by a 2 sisters Frances Elrod and Irene Gantt and 2 brothers Floyd Stafford and Clarence Stafford. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church. He is survived by his wife of 57 years Jo Ann Eckard Stafford of the home; a sister Mary Powell and husband Ray of Hickory; his loving pets Windy and Missy; and numerous nieces and nephews The family will receive friends on Friday, November 14, 2014 from 10:45am to 11:45am at Hickory Funeral Home. Funeral Service will be held Friday, November 14, 2014 at 12:00pm at Hickory Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Jeff Lindsay. Burial will follow at Catawba Memorial Park.
