Arthur “Artie” Kevin Bates, age 74 of Hickory, passed away Sunday, October 29,2023. Born June 2 1949 in Brooklyn NY, he was the son of the late Arthur and Caroline, of Lynbrook NY.
Artie served in the Army National Guard of New York from 1969 until 1975. He retired from NY Telephone, and lived for several years in Long Beach, NY, before moving to Hickory NC where immediate family had relocated. Artie loved buffaloes, and was proud to be a life long fan of the Buffalo Bills.
Artie is survived by his brother Robert and wife Emiko of Arizona; sister Deborah and husband Michael of North Carolina; sister Catherine and husband Steve of Michigan; as well as nephews and nieces: David, Laura, Peter, Lindsay, John, Kevin, Maggie, Susie and Charlie; as well as several great-nephews and one great-niece.
