Robert Lee Cotton was born April 26, 1940, to the proud parents of A.J. Cotton and Ruth Gray-
Cotton in Rose Hill, MS. He received Christ an early age and was baptized at First Baptist
Church, Biloxi, MS. He attended M F Nichols High School. He attended Indiana University. He
joined the US Air Force in February 1962, where he served for 26 years until retirement. His
declarations included Meritorious Service Medal, Air Force Commendation Medal three times,
Air Force Good Conduct Medal seven times, Small Arms Marksmanship Medal twice, Non-
Commission Officer Professional Military Education, Air Force Longevity Service Ribbon six
times, National Defense Service Medal, Air Force Oversea Service Ribbon long tour and short
tour ribbon and Air Force Outstanding Unity Award twice. He received his bachelor’s degree in
religion from Liberty university in Lynchburg, VA.
After Robert was honorably retired, he united with Lancaster Baptist Church pastored by Paul
Chappell where he served in many positions. He moved to Victorville, CA and united with Bible
Baptist Church, pastored by Joel Counts. Where he was a faithful member. He was united in
marriage to Dina S. Cotton in March 2018.
Left to cherish his memory his son Bryant Luther Cotton (Lorin) and daughter Sandra Lynn
Reaves (Walter), his children’s mother, Editha B. Cotton, one brother Pastor James Ralph
Gilmore, (Floyd Marie) and two brothers Andrew Gray and Louie Dwight deceased, 12
grandchildren, Jerome, Jennifer, Raymond, Amanda, Azja, Robert Lee II, Jerilyn, Bryan Jr., Kiro,
Natalie, Jordan, Olivia, Cannon, Walter IV, 2 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews,
relatives, and friends.
