Mary Patricia Quinn-West (Osburn) passed away peacefully on the evening of June 23, 2024, at her home in Wrightwood while holding her daughter’s hand. She was born on April 9, 1941, in Waukegan, Illinois to Navy Serviceman James Anderson Osburn and Lois Lee Osburn (Cole). She was raised in her family’s town of Holtville, California. She attended Morningside High School in Inglewood where she met and married her first husband, Bill Quinn, with whom she had three children, William, Bridget, and Sean.
Patricia received her Master’s Degree in Human Development, specializing in Marriage, Family, and Child Counseling from Pacific Oaks College in Pasadena in 1982. She went on to become certified as a play and dance therapist and a hypnotherapist. She worked for Catholic Charities of Los Angeles as an intern. She owned a counseling business in Wrightwood, California called Snowmoon Mountain Counseling. Then she worked for the San Bernardino County Behavioral Health Department until she retired.
Patricia was an avid runner most of her life, representing California in the Senior Olympics, bringing home a bronze medal. She ran many 5K races with great success. She also loved to dance, owning her own studio called Sweet Water Emporium in Van Nuys. She was always up for adventures such as climbing Mt. Whitney, walking on hot coals with Native Americans and joining drum circles. She also practiced Hatha Yoga.
Patricia settled in Wrightwood in1985 where she felt at home in the mountains and made many friends. She was a member of the Wrightwood United Methodist Church. She also had a second home in Palm Springs. However, she returned to Wrightwood full time to live with her daughter in 2019. Her special place was at the ocean where she felt a deep spiritual connection to God and the universe.
Patricia is survived by her two sons, William and Sean, her daughter Bridget Lehman, her two grandsons, Ethan and Maverick Quinn, and her brother Jim Osburn. She was preceded in death by her father James Osburn, her mother Lois Lee Thalman, and her sister, Sammie Lee Morgan.
No services will be held. Patricia asked that her ashes be spread over the ocean that she loved
