Wesley Kay Duncan, age 82, a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather, passed away at home surrounded by loved ones on Monday, December 21, 2020. He was born on November 20th 1938 in Idaho Falls, Idaho. He is preceded in death by his mother who passed when he was five years old. This led to him living with different Aunts, Uncles, and cousins through Idaho, Montana, and Utah.
Stacked in a home or a barn with several other family members, is where Wes learned to save and re-use things. His most often used saying was, “Don’t throw that away I can use it for something!”. Remaining hopeful during his youth he was always grateful and admired his cousins who helped care for him. Wesley graduated from Hurricane High School in Utah in 1958, and joined the US Navy in 1962 where he worked as a Machinist Mate on the U.S.S. Prairie, which led to a career as a Millwright at TIMET in Henderson Nevada for over 30 years.
Wes lived in Henderson, Nevada for over 50 years where his greatest accomplishment and happiness are his two children, 3 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren; they are his living legacy. Whenever possible you could find him on Lake Mead fishing for large mouth bass, ATVing in Utah, mining for gold in Arizona, or some other outdoor adventure. Most often his hard working and fun loving ways were spent helping a friend, working on a project, fixing something or just shooting the breeze. He was always giving of his time and talents plus using all those things he never threw away. His integrity, generosity, humility, laughter, love of family and friends will be treasured and missed most. About now he would be saying, “What’s all the fuss about?”
Wesley leaves behind his wife, Julie; daughter, Traci (Ricky); son, Brian, the mother of his children, Donna; grandchildren: Ashley (Andrew), Jacob, and Faith; great-grandchildren: Maddox, Brave, Ezra and August; brothers: Glen Duncan Jr. and Darrell Duncan; nieces, nephews, cousins, and many close friends.
He will be remembered on January 14th at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, located at 400 South Water Street, Henderson, Nevada 89015. Visitation with a Family prayer will be at 10:00 am with services following at 11am. Wesley will be laid to rest on Friday, January 15th at 10:40 am at the Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery 1900 Veterans Memorial Dr. Boulder City, Nevada 89005
