His family moved to California when he was very young and he went to school primarily in Ontario California. Nine days after his 17th birthday, Ron enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served for four years.
Ron came to southern Nevada to work and secured a job at the Titanium Metals plant.
While in Henderson, he met and fell in love with Margaret Ellen Mainor. They married on 18 February 1955. Their marriage was solemnized in the St. George Temple for time & eternity on January 21, 1956.
In September 1965, Ron became a police officer for the City of Henderson, before transitioning as a school officer for Basic High School. He was chosen to work in the high school due to his diverse background and excellent human relations skills. He retired from public service in November 1996.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, golf, and fixing cars mostly sharing these activities with his family.
A convert to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, he served in a variety of callings including young men’s president, bishopric member and temple worker. He served a mission with his wife in the Philippines from 2001 to 2003.
He is preceded in death by his parents Walter and Alice, his sister Patricia, his daughter Holly, daughter-in-law Michelle and his great-grandson Rex Patchett.
He is survived by his wife, Margie; his sisters Delores and Carol Ann and his brother Kenneth; and his children Kurt (Michelle), Guy (Cathy), Jami, Michael (Betty), Robin (Michael), Heather, and Mitchell (Heidi) and 27 grandchildren, 42 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
The funeral and viewing will be held Saturday, June 25, 2022 with viewing from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m and funeral at 11:00 a.m. at the Cholla Street Chapel of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints located at 303 S Cholla St Street, Henderson, NV 89015. Visitation will be from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m.. Burial will be at Palm Mortuary, 800 S. Boulder Highway, Henderson, NV.
