Robert Lopez was 88 years old at the time of his passing. Robert (Bob to many), was born at East Los Angeles, California. He was the sixth child out of seven children. He was born to parents of humble means.
Robert was always a hard worker, starting as a young child collecting chips of ice that would fall from the ice truck. He was also a shoe-shine boy at the age of nine in order to help his mother support the family. Although he always worked while in school, Robert was also known as a great all-around athlete lettering in track, basketball and his favorite sport, football. In football, he was all city half-back at Roosevelt High School. Robert was the first in his family to graduate high school and attend college.
Robert served proudly in the United States Army during the Korean War as a medic. Robert was married to Trinidad whom he always referred to as “my love”, for sixty-three years. Together they raised four children. He has five grandchildren and one great-granddaughter. Robert will always be remembered for his love for his family, his kindness to others, his strong work ethic and both his smile and laughter.
Robert is now sitting at God’s table.
