Pauline Edie, age 95, of Las Vegas, Nevada, passed away on Monday, February 15, 2021. She was born in her grandfather, John Stucki's home as Emma Pauline Dalley on October 3, 1925 in Santa Clara, Utah. Her parents were William Wright Dalley and Hulda (Stucki, Wittwer, Dalley, Peterson). Pauline was raised in Summit, Utah in a log cabin, pioneer home, with her mother, Hulda; father, William; brother, Ivan Wittwer; and sisters: Georgia Wittwer, Matheson, and Ardice Wittwer Williamson.
Pauline left Summit during the war and worked in Oakland, California, where she met a handsome sailor, Charles “Chuck” Rennie, and married shortly before the war ended. They had four children: Charlotte (Rennie) Vernon, Pauline Rennie, Chuck Rennie and Edward Rennie; 13 grandchildren; and 18 great grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren. The family lived in Summit for a brief time; but relocated in 1946 to Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania. In 1949, the family relocated back to Parowan, Utah; until 1957 when they settled in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Pauline and Chuck bought a boat when the children were little and named it Polly Chuck. They enjoyed boating almost every weekend on Lake Mead; waterskiing and fishing. Pauline didn’t swim so she never skied but she always enjoyed her time with the family at the lake.
With her marriage to Chuck ending in divorce, Pauline met Paul Edie; and the couple were married in 1965. Through their union, the family blended their lives; where Pauline was blessed with two step children: James Edie and Sandra (Edie) Acocella; and three additional grandchildren. Paul Edie passed away in 1979.
Pauline worked as a waitress, change girl, and eventually went to work for Sears as a retail clerk for 30 year until her retirement. She was a member of several lodges, and Daughters of the Utah Pioneers. Her grandfather John S Stucki was a Handcart Pioneer in 1860 at the age of 10, migrating from Switzerland to Santa Clara, Utah.
Pauline was devoted to her faith, and loved going to church, church activities, and doing temple work. She also liked to travel and did so, frequently, with her children and several senior group trips. Pauline, also, loved cruises once her family finally got her on the first trip. She went on cruises to Alaska with her daughters and Mexican cruises with all four of her children. One of her desires was to visit Switzerland the country where the Stucki lived and were converted to the Latter-Day Saint faith there. She traveled to Europe with her daughters visiting England, France, Switzerland and Italy.
Pauline loved outdoor activities and going to Utah. She spent many summers at her son Chuck' cabin in the Cedar Mountains fishing in the lakes and streams and visiting the National Parks. She liked camping, riding horses, and boating. Pauline enjoyed tending to her garden; where she had roses, vegetables and fruits. At least once a year she visited Utah ancestors grave to add flowers and pay respect to them.
Pauline lived a full wonderful life and was loved by everyone who touched her life.
Pauline was preceded in death by her husband Paul; parents; two sisters and one brother. She is survived by her children: Charlotte, Pauline, Chuck, and Ed; 13 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren.
