We’re sorry to announce the passing of Patricia Lee Byrne, 81, on December 26th 2020 in Boulder City, after a two week fight with the Corona Virus. She was born July 13, 1939 in Columbus, Ohio. The daughter of Albert Edward (Bud) Byrne and Lillie Belle Prasse of Cincinnati, Ohio and later Boulder City, Nevada.
Her siblings are Virginia T. Galletta (Byrne) of Long Beach, California, Kathleen A. Byrne of Garden Grove, California, and Sherry J. Bommer (Byrne) of Oroville, California. Patricia is preceded in passing by her parents, Albert and Lillie, and her elder sister Barbara A. Byrne whom passed at a young age of Leukemia.
Patricia graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School class of 1957 in Long Beach, California. She worked at Walker department store in downtown Long Beach. Patricia attended Long Beach City College and was voted Homecoming Queen. Patricia met Ted R. Lewis at the Pike in Long Beach where they were a competitive dance couple.
In her youth, Patricia loved to dance and she was a very good dancer. She danced the Fox Trot and the Tango. She taught dancing for awhile. Patricia and Ted met around 1959 and were married June 4th, 1960. The couple moved to Ted’s hometown of St. Johns, Michigan. Their only child together, Troy Byrne Lewis, was born there in January 1961.
Leaving the marriage in late 1961, Patricia and her son, Troy moved back in her parent’s home in Long Beach, California. They stayed in Long Beach for the next seventeen years. Patricia worked for the U.S. Government at the Long Beach Naval Ship Yard as an administrative specialist for 21 years. The same location where her father worked and retired, and her mother for a time.
In 1978, about eight years after her parents had retired to Boulder City, Nevada, Patricia and her son Troy moved to Boulder City. She was very close to her parents and wanted to be close to them. She transferred to a U.S. Government position with the U.S. Department of the Interior, then with the Department of Energy in Boulder City. Patricia remained with her parents in their retirement years until their passing; her father Albert in 1998, then her mother Lillie the next year.
Patricia loved dogs, especially her companion of recent years, Tiko, her Chihuahua. All of Patricia’s friends know of Tiko, Whom she spoke of fondly. She had many friends at her church, St. Andrews Catholic Church. She is well known and loved by her friends at the Boulder Dam Credit Union in Boulder City.
Patricia is survived by her son, Troy B. Lewis of Henderson, Nevada; her sisters: Virginia Galletta, Kathleen Byrne, and Sherry Bommer; all of California; three grandchildren: Kristina and Patrick Lewis of Henderson, Nevada; and Troy B. Lewis Jr.
Patricia will always be in our hearts and prayers; she is remembered as a loving and caring person and mother. Patricia is a person of high integrity. She will be deeply missed by her family and friends. May she rest with God’s Loving Peace.
