John Tony Valdez Sr., age 78, of Henderson, Nevada passed away on Friday, May 20, 2022. He was born May 25, 1943 in Center, Colorado to his parents Ross Valdez and Mary Garcia. He was raised with his four brothers and two sisters. The family relocated to Henderson, Nevada at an early age, and he graduated from Basic High School.
John was a kind gentle man; but strong and brave when he needed to be. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather, who loved his family dearly and would do anything for them. John enjoyed fishing at the Paragonah Reservoir, and going on long walks with his wife holding her hand. To support his family, John, primarily worked at the Rainbow Club as a cook and sometimes a chef.
John was active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, and his community. He served on the board for the Henderson Parks and Recreation, coached women's softball, coming in first place most seasons; and bowled in a league, where he served as the secretary and treasurer for many years.
John was a many of many talents and interests, but enjoyed the simple things in life. He loved his family and friends, and will truly be missed.
John was preceded in death by his parents, and siblings. He is survived by his wife, Sara; children: Johnny and Lisa, one granddaughter, and one great granddaughter.
A visitation for John will be held Monday, May 30, 2022 from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM at Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 1002 Burkholder Blvd, Henderson, NV 89015, followed by a funeral service from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM. He will be laid to rest at Paragonah Cemetery in Paragonah, Utah
