Irene M. Daly died peacefully on October 6, 2012, at Boulder City Hospital, just a few weeks before her 102nd birthday. She was born on October 24, 1910 in Minneapolis, Minnesota, the daughter of John Nelson and Ida Perdgeark. Irene married Robert J. Daly in Chicago on October 8, 1932. Robert’s 45 year career with Illinois Bell Telephone took them from Chicago where their children were born to Springfield, Illinois. Some of her fondest memories were of Cub Scouts and the family vacations to Green Lake, Wisconsin. When Robert retired, the couple moved to Boulder City where he died in 1986.
For more than 25 years Irene enjoyed living in Boulder City and received recognition for her involvement from Mission of St. Andrew Catholic Community Church, City Council and Elks Lodge. She was honored by the community with a special commemoration on her 100th birthday. Irene is survived by her sons Michael (Tracy) Daly, from Mission Viejo , CA and Thomas (Kathy) Daly, from Springfield, IL; grandchildren Jennifer, Brian, Christopher, Sean and Ryan; and great grandchildren, Cameron, Ian, Collin, Malcolm, Levi and Isaac. She was preceeded in death by her parents, husband and sister, Margaret.
The funeral will be held at Mission of St. Andrew Catholic Community Church in Boulder City on Tuesday, October 9th, at 10am. There will be a luncheon, in her honor, following the service.
Interment will be at Oak Ridge Cemetery in Springfield, IL . Gifts in Irene’s memory may be made to St. Andrew’s at 1399 San Felipe Drive, Boulder City, Nevada, 89005.
