Clemmy Lee King, age 79, of Las Vegas, Nevada passed, away on Friday, June 4, 2021. He was born at home on December 14, 1941 in Comanche, Oklahoma to Juanita Virginia King and James Browning King. Clemmy was raised in Norwalk, California with his older brother, James King; three younger brothers: Charlie, Lynn, and Steve; and two younger sisters: Ginny and Ada. As a young man, Clemmy was always thinking about his future and was fascinated with trucks. In his spare time he liked watching the big trucks drive by on the front porch. Clemmy graduated from Excelsior High School in 1959; his favorite class was printing of the school newspaper.
Clemmy greatly enjoyed what he did for a living. He was a hard worker who was an efficient worker, and a person who paid careful attention to detail. His primary occupation was as a truck driver. He was employed many years as an Owner Operator for long-haul trucking and as a Cement Truck driver and operator. Clemmy worked hard to be a team player, doing what was necessary in order to get the job done.
Later in life, Clemmy exchanged wedding vows with Lei Lani Dotterwick on June 7, 1975 at the Local Wedding Chapel in Carson City, Nevada. Together, the couple, blended their lives and families to become an instant family. Clemmy felt blessed to have five children: one daughter, Jamie and one son, Jason; and three stepsons: Scott, Michael , and Loren. Additionally, they were also blessed with nine grandchildren: David, Lily, Lizzy, Ethan, Ryan, Michelle, John, Tim, and Kelsey.
Clemmy was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather, who liked specific time for working on his hobbies. He enjoyed raising horses and cattle, and hunting and fishing. He cherished his horse, Pico whom he had for over 10 year. In his leisure time, Clemmy liked watching horse racing, drag racing, football; and taking vacations to Hawaii whenever he got the opportunity.
When Clemmy’s retirement finally arrived in June 15, 2006, he was well prepared. His new life involved relocating to Henderson, Nevada. Even in retirement, Clemmy continued to stay in touch with his old friends while making plenty of new acquaintances. He was active in his new community and felt fulfilled.
Commitment is a key word that can be used to describe the life of Clemmy Lee King. He was committed to living the life of a good man who was both practical and trustworthy. He was committed to the traditional values that he upheld his entire life. He committed himself to being a hard worker who expected the same effort in return from those around him. Most of all, he was committed to those he knew and loved.
Clemmy was preceded in death by his father, James Browning King, mother, Juanita Virginia King; brother, James King (Joan); sister, Ginny Roush (Carl); brother, Wayne King (Elaine); sister-in-law, Vicky King; and two stepsons: Michael Packingham and Loren Wadstein. He is survived by his wife, Lei Lani King; brothers: Charlie King (Merlena) and Steven King; one sister, Ada Luna (Bob); children: Jamie Lynn Williams, Jason Lee King, and Scott Packingham; and nine grandchildren: David Williams, Lily Williams, Lizzy Williams, Ethan King, Ryan King
Michelle Packingham, Kelsey Packingham Ross, John Packingham, and Tim Packingham.
A visitation for Clemmy will be held Thursday, June 17, 2021 from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM. Funeral services will begin at 10:00 AM, both at Palm Boulder Highway Mortuary, 800 South Boulder Highway, Henderson, NV 89015. Clemmy will be laid to rest at Palm Henderson Cemetery.
