Bernadette (Bernie) Conklin, age 77, of Henderson, Nevada passed away on Friday, February 25, 2022. She was born on April 8, 1944 in Chicago, Illinois to Tom and Emily Malouf. Bernie first moved from Chicago to Henderson in 1978. She worked with the Henderson Boys and Girls Club, before moving on to the Clark County Housing Authority where she retired in 2008.
Bernie believed in living life by the motto of “Vim, Vigor and Vitality” from a very early age. Her smile and laughter were infectious and she loved her family beyond all measure and wore the title of “Sitto” (Grandmother) with pride. Bernie’s favorite pastimes were; spending time with family, fishing with her granddaughter’s, telling stories, bowling, entertaining and of course cheering on the White Sox.
Bernadette is survived by her loving husband Albert Conklin; son, Jeff Grady; step-daughter, Melinda Konys (Jason); step-sons: Jason Conklin (Tracy) of Nevada and Michael Conklin (Tara) of Missouri; grandchildren: Isabelle, Brianna, Greg, Zach, Ashlee, Hailey, Mike, Tyler, Charlie; brother, Tom (Jane) Malouf of Illinois. She was pre-deceased by her sister, Joan John.
Services for Bernie will be held Tuesday, May 3, 2022 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at St Viator Catholic Community Church, 2461 E Flamingo Rd, Las Vegas, NV 89121. Following the funeral mass, Bernie will be laid to rest at the Southern Nevada Veteran's Memorial Cemetery, 1900 Veteran's Memorial Drive, Boulder City, NV 89005.
