Anthony "Chito" Sanchez Coronel

Anthony "Chito" Sanchez Coronel, age 67, of Las Vegas, Nevada passed away on Wednesday, November 30, 2022. Chito was born at the family home in Labo, Camarines Norte, Philippines to his parents Tranqulino Coronel and Dionicia Sanchez. Chito grew up in Manila with his four siblings: Pat, Nanet, Anita, Mariebelle. He was constantly involved in all sorts of activities; but, what he enjoyed most was playing basketball and Sipa, spending time with his best friend, Jimmy Mendez, and spending time with his family. In his spare time he liked reading comics. Anthony graduated from Tandang Sora High school in 1971. He placed a high value on a good education, so he continued his education, obtaining his Associate of Arts Degree from Feati University.

In the 1980's, Anthony relocated to the United States, and would begin raising a family. Anthony would be blessed with two children; one son Marc Anthony, and one daughter Marie Antoniette; who were his pride and joy. Chito, was a loving, compassionate, and caring father; whom always put his children and family first in his life. Always supportive of his children, and always at the ready to help them through difficult life choices they faced along the way.

In 1988, Anthony enlisted in the U.S. Navy. He honorably served for the next couple years in aircraft maintenance and in administration during the Gulf War “operation desert storm”. Through his hard work and dedication, Anthony achieved the rank of a seaman, ANAZ. Upon his discharge from active duty, Anthony would then continue to serve in the U.S. Naval Reserves.

Upon his discharge from the U.S. Navy, Anthony looked for new opportunities to support his growing family by working for the U.S. Postal Service. Anthony's was employed for over 20 years with the U.S. Postal service, retiring as a Post Office Supervisor in 2014.

Because he was organized and methodical, Chito took great pleasure in his various hobbies. In his younger days he enjoyed basketball and Sipa, and reading his comic books. In retirement, He enjoyed fixing computers, and taking computer classes, playing slots in his favorite casinos, and traveling and taking cruises. Chito was also something of a sports fan and enjoyed watching tennis, Boxing, football whenever he got the opportunity.

Throughout his life, Chito was a gregarious, caring and compassionate man. He was generous in sharing his personal attributes, giving and helping those he knew and loved. He was imaginative, original, tender hearted and easy to get along with. Chito leaves behind him a legacy of life-long friendships and cherished memories. Everyone whose lives he touched will dearly remember Anthony Sanchez Coronel.

Chito was preceded in death by his father, Tranqulino Coronel; mother, Dionicia Coronel; sisters: Patrociñio Sanchez Coronel and Anita Coronel Agatep; and brother in law, Ventura Ocampo Ducat. He is survived by his son, Marc Anthony Urena Coronel; his daughter, Marie Antoniette Urena Coronel; his sisters: Nanet Sanchez Coronel and MarieBelle Coronel Ducat; brother in law, Veronico Costales Agatep; former spouse, Mariabella Coronel; and extended family.

A visitation for Chito will be held Wednesday, December 21, 2022 from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM. Funeral services will be on Thursday, December 22, 2022 beginning at 10:00 AM, both at Palm Boulder Highway Mortuary, 800 South Boulder Highway, Henderson, NV 89015. Anthony will be laid to rest with military honors at 12:00 PM at the Southern Nevada Veteran's Memorial Cemetery, 1900 Veteran's Memorial Drive, Boulder City, NV 89005.
