You raised a beautiful  family  and I'm  lucky  to call your son, Cesar, a great  friend.  Prayers for the familia Gonzalez.

I was about 12 when you first moved into the house across the street from me. We were kids of the neighborhood and it wasn’t long before I began to call you mom. You talked to us, laughed with us and even cried with us. Your words were straight forward and like Mireya said, very blunt. Ha ha it was funny at times but other times we ran out the house as fast as we can because we knew when you got upset. You joked with me Cesar, Mondo and Danny and I will never forget those fun times.  You were very caring and took care of us in your own special way. I went to many of your family gatherings and everyone accepted me as part of the family. But then one day you realize you are grown up and seeing my own neighborhood kids call my wife mom.  Being a kid was easy. I didn’t understand much of your love for the Lord until I grew up. Believe it or not you have inspired me to live my life for the good Lord.  I was hopeful to see you again but it just didn’t happen. I will always remember you because , well, you were my second mom growing up. How could I ever forget you. With that said you will always be alive to me. A little bit of you touched me forever. I didn’t get a chance to see you again while you were here on earth but maybe God has other plans for me to see you again. To Cesar. Mireya, Edgar and Gisela my heart goes out to you. Mom will always be in our hearts and In our memory.

To my Tia:  I love you Tia. I will miss you. Thank you for being so close to my Mom. My mom feels a huge loss. Best Tia I had. She counseled me when I needed it. We are so at sad for this tragedy that has happened to our families. We live you.

Where does one even begin to describe such an extraordinary woman?
Tombstone will read June 27 1948- January 3 2021.  That tiny dash in-between just doesn't justify my mothers life!  That dash hides soo much of who she was and what she gave to others.
She married young to Noe Gonzalez.  She gave birth to 4 healthy children: Cesar, myself (Mireya), Edgar and Gisela. 
She remained married to my father till the very end.  It was no secret that their marriage came with many difficulties, however she remained married for many reasons, but most of all to try and honor God.
She was a woman of faith. A woman who did her best to instill that faith onto her children. A woman who studied the word, taught the word, and spread the word to as many as she could.  My mother lost her parents before she can even walk, therefore when she had her personal encounter with our Lord she was so incredibly in love with our Lord.
As one knows, being a believer doesn't make one holy or near perfect.  She struggled with pride.  I would probably say that was one of the things she struggled with the most.  She didn't always hold back with her words.  She was at times too blunt.  But my mother had and amazing way of analyzing things. An amazing way of breaking things down for us to understand things.  Whether it be an argument among us or with others.  Movies.  She loved watching movies! She was so good at breaking them down and really knowing what the writer was trying to put out.  But most of all she had this great way of teaching life's biggest lessons with the word of God.  She didn't miss and opportunity to work in God's love and teachings.
She taught us to love and always support one another despite our circumstances.  She always saw the best in people (always rooted for the under dog).  Always gave people the benefit of the doubt.
Many would say that my mother was an open book.  Many knew of her personal problems, many knew of her recent illness (cancer).  But I'm not sure many knew how much she really cared for others  How much she took others problems to heart  How much it hurt her when others were going through difficult times.  How much she really cared when others succeeded, how much she too filled with joy when others came to her and shared great news.  But most of all I don't think many knew how much she prayed for others.  And the joy she would get out of learning when someone found our Lord to be their Savior.  That was her biggest joy!!
My mother left us.  She knew where she was going.  We all did, but one thing she failed to do was to teach us how painful this would be....

My auntie/ Tia that pulled no punches. I will miss your smile and your blunt ways of expression. We had a connection that many didn’t realize, similar personality. You understood me when nobody else did. I love you beyond words can say. I’m sure that we’re ever you may go , you’ll run the ship. Rest In Peace my star.
