Rudolph Vidal Marquez, age 83 of Moreno Valley, California, passed away peacefully at his home, surrounded by his family, on Thursday, May 16, 2019. He was born on May 4, 1936 in Casablanca, California, to the late Joe Marquez and the late Helen Moreno Marquez. Rudolph served with the United States Navy and retired after serving his country for 30 years.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 65 years, Conception Marquez; three sons, Rudy, Tony and Dan Marquez; two daughters, Lisa Shaffer and Suzanne Sawyer; 12 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; one brother, Albert Marquez (Rosie); two sisters, Helen and Veronica Marquez and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by father and mother Joe & Helen Marquez; brother Joe Marquez and grandson, Rudolph Marquez.
Rudolph and Connie met their sophomore year in high school. They married right out of school in 1955 and Connie would end up joining her beloved on several duty stations throughout the United States, including one overseas to Okinawa, Japan. Rudolph didn't just sign up for a short stay, he enjoyed learning avionics and traveling the world. He knew early on that he would make the United States Navy his career. He was a dedicated sailor, who proudly served his country for 30 years.
Family was equally important to Rudolph, he spent many months at sea, so when he was home, he caught up with all the good and the bad things that five children can get into over-time. He enjoyed the outdoors, and would go on family camping trips whenever possible. Rudy to some Dad to others, he had many hobbies that he enjoyed. He was known to many as a Jack of All Trades and his knowledge of how things worked and how to fix them; was pretty impressive.
The family will receive friends from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Wednesday, May 29, 2019, at Miller-Jones Mortuary, 23618 Sunnymead Blvd., Moreno Valley, California. Funeral service will be at 11:30 AM on Thursday, May 30, 2019 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Shrine located at 2858 9th St. Riverside, California 92507. Committal service to follow at 1:30 PM at Riverside National Cemetery.
