Phillip Charles Snyder, 74 of Hemet, CA passed away on Saturday, January 16, 2016, in Hemet, CA. He was born on Tuesday, October 28, 1941 in Centralia IL, to Glenn and Marie Snyder. Phillip is survived by his devoted wife, Barbara Snyder, son, David (Julie) Snyder, two step children, Cale (Jennifer) Thomas and Tamara (John) Waddleton, brother, Ray (Mari) Snyder, and six grandchildren, Miranda, Chase, Tommy, Lizzie, Taylor and Hayden.
Phil graduated from Millikan High School and attended Long Beach City college on a baseball scholarship. Later, he attended Cal State Long Beach where he attained his degree in Criminal Justice. After graduation he went to work as a US Customs Agent for three years. He then enlisted in the Marine Corps. After training, he was sent to Vietnam for 14 months. When Phil left the Marine Corps, he was recruited by the FBI and became a Special Agent working criminal investigations assigned to Domestic Intelligence. After 7 years with the FBI, he resigned and returned to Southern California to work for the Orange County Public Defender's Office. He then attended Western State University in Fullerton and attained his doctorate in law. After 15 years, he transferred to the Riverside County Public Defender's Office where he retired after 14 years. Most recently he volunteered with the Hemet Police Department.
In his private life, Phillip was dedicated completely to his family. He loved traveling and visiting family. His favorite place in the country was Ruidoso New Mexico. Phillip also loved to golf, was an avid reader and enjoyed bluegrass and country on the guitar.
Phillip was dearly loved and will be deeply missed by everyone who had the honor of knowing him.
In lieu of flowers the family would like donations to be made to the Wounded Warrior Project.
