Margaret Mary Failor Ellis was born August 6, 1937 in El Paso, TX to Gilmor Failor and Mary Abigail (Abbie) Carney Failor. Her father worked for the Federal Narcotics Bureau and the family moved often because of his job. She finished high school in New Orleans, LA and graduated from Rice University in 1959. She married James Oliver Ellis (Jim) shortly thereafter. They were married for 50 years before his death. Margaret was an elementary school teacher for 2 years in Houston before she and Jim moved to Los Angeles where his family lived. She worked at the University of Southern California for a few years before they moved to the Riverside area. She worked for more than 40 years in the library at the University of California at Riverside. Margaret & Jim were loving caregivers to her mother for many years in their home. Margaret & Jim enjoyed their dogs and bird watching. She led nature hikes at the Lake Parris State Recreational Area. She and her mother were active in the Toastmistress clubs. Margaret leaves behind 2 sisters an a brother: Marian Bredin of Washington, NJ, Pat Laird of Georgetown, TX, and Mike Failor of Houston, TX. Margaret was particularly close to her niece Sheila Gutierrez of Glendora, CA.
