Juanita Dora Sanchez

Ms. Sanchez was born on June 24, 1927 at her family's ranch near San Jacinto, California, and moved to Stockton in the early 1940's. She gave birth to and raised four sons while working at the local cannery and other jobs.

Ms. Sanchez eventually gained employment with the California State Department of Rehabilitation and worked in its Stockton and Tracy offices for over 25 years as a case worker. In recognition of her service to her clients and the community, Ms. Sanchez received a commendation from the California State.

Shortly after her retirement as a State employee, Ms. Sanchez moved back home to the Temecula Valley to be closer to her family and her Tribe. She continued to serve others during retirement by donating her time and resources to numerous charities and organizations.

She was preceded in her death by her parents, Andres and Frances Salinas, as well as her 9 brothers and sisters: Jozee, Esther, Pete, William, Michael, Myrtle, Pearl, Margaret, and Beatrice. She leaves behind her four boys- Paul, John, Arthur, and Alfred- and a large number of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, Ms. Sanchez's family asks that donations be made in her name to the American Cancer Society and the Land Peace Foundation (http://landpeacefoundation.net/?page_id=45).
