John Long passed away peacefully on November 8, 2024, at the age of 94, after a long and fulfilling life with his beloved wife, Josephine Long, by his side. Born on October 23, 1930, 1930, in Bristol, Indiana, John grew up in his hometown and graduated from Bristol High School with the Class of 1948.
Following his service in the United States navy, John returned to Bristol and began his career with Skyline Corporation. In 1960, he relocated to Hemet, California, near Ryan Field, where he oversaw the expansion of Skyline by opening two plants dedicated to trailer manufacturing. Known for his entrepreneurial spirit, john wore many successful hats in the Hemet Valley. He became part-owner of American RVs, an answering service, a restaurant in Idyllwild, a storage business, and eventually embarked on a career as a real estate agent.
In 2001, after a remarkable career and countless contributions to his community, John retired and moved to Carlsbad, California. He and Josephine spent his retirement traveling the world together, creating cherished memories.
John is survived by his devoted wife, Josephine Long; his children, Kristie Izzo, Kim Long, Tricia Smith, Pat Bailey, Jeff Bailey (deceased), and Kevin Long (deceased); five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
John's legacy lives on in the lives of those he loved and the community he enriched with his dedication, entrepreneurship, and warmth.
