John Frederick Fleck, 95, of Hemet, CA, passed away on Friday, August 19, 2022. John left behind his loving wife of 58 years, Karen Louise Fleck, also of Hemet. John was the beloved father of three children: Paul Scott Fleck and wife Teri Fleck of Lakeside, CA, Melinda Kay Lynn and fiancé Stephen Dunagan of San Jose, CA, and Michelle Yvonne Clifton and husband Jeffrey Clifton of Landrum, SC. John also left behind 10 grandchildren: Tiffany Lynn Milliken and husband Daniel Milliken, Jonathan Patrick Lynn, Joshua Patrick Lynn and wife Ariana Lynn, Sarah Marie Lynn, Tabitha Lynn Fleck, Katherine Joy Lynn, Alexander Paul Clifton, Rebekah Hope Lynn, and Elyse Yvonne Clifton.
John loved the Lord and was committed to devoting his time as a Chaplain for Hemet Hospital up until the day he was taken home to be with the Lord. He was a member of Crossroads Baptist Church in Hemet, CA for the past decade, where he was a deacon, participated in Bible Studies, and regularly met with Pastor Kirk Beard for lively discussions on biblical topics.
John was a design engineer for 40 years with Owens Illinois Glass in Columbus Ohio. After retiring, he and Karen relocated to San Diego CA to be closer to family and to enjoy the warm sunny Southern California weather. One of his favorite things to do in San Diego was to sleep over at the San Diego Zoo “Roar and Snore,” and to take a thermos of hot coffee to Pacific Beach and look for the “Green Flash” as the sun sank below the horizon.
He led dozens of programs on keeping worms for gardening, composting, and tours of the flower fields in Carlsbad, CA. He loved to travel any way he could, taking many trips by car across the United States, and also traveling abroad on many occasions. He was also an inventor by heart and was constantly coming up with new and better ways to do things as well as simplifying things around the house.
John will be greatly missed and is treasured in the hearts of all who knew him. In all his 95 years he was consistently a positive person with an outlook on life that was full of vision, creativity, and hope of the life with Jesus in heaven.
