On December 21, 2024, at 8:15pm, I lost my beloved husband and best friend. Father to four sons, Joshua, Jason, Justin, and Daniel, and grandfather to nine, Jay Arthur Murrell was born on June 15, 1950. He loved playing baseball, and was a fan of the San Francisco Giants and San Francisco 49er’s. His work ethic was undeniably a mixture of honesty, integrity, and pride of accomplishment.
As a business owner and entrepreneur, he built each of his businesses, which included a first class bed and breakfast, as well as a gluten-free bakery, and a catering food service of gourmet salads and specialty dishes. Working with the public was Jay’s forte, and his cooking skills were evidenced by the success of continual referrals. He was kind and loving, and took great delight in family gatherings. At Christmas he wore his Santa suit, and played the part for years to enchant the little ones. Even with the diagnosis of Alzheimer’s in his later years, Jay still believed he needed to work.
He was so very courageous as the effects of the disease took his precious memories. He maintained a positive attitude because the man he was would always conquer adversity. He always put his loved ones first. The sadness of Jay’s passing has been felt by family, friends, neighbors, and colleagues. As his family, we grieve for him deeply, and know we shall meet again when it is our time. We will love you forever, dearest Jay, and will honor your life at a gathering to be presented at a date to be determined.
