James “Joey” Mendoza, Was born December 03, 1949 after a struggle with cancer he died peacefully in his home on March 26, 2023. He is Survived by his wife Iliana Mendoza and his eight children, Nicole, Anthony, Natalie, Krystal, James Jr., Cynthia, Edward, and Michael and 12 grandchildren, all whom he loved very much.
We could have lost him suddenly to cardiac arrest, Jan 30,2023, but by a miracle he came back when the doctors said he wouldn’t. We must be one of the luckiest people in the world. How many times do you hear "If only I'd told him how much I loved him, but it’s too late" well we did get that chance and so did he and for that, we are eternally grateful.
Some our memories of him when he would play his guitar and sing. One of his favorites was, Long Tall Texan, and La Bamba which the kids would dance to as he sang.
He would often come home tired and ask the kids to help him remove his boots. Of course, they didn’t like it, he would say “one day you will not have me and you would wish you could remove my boots” How right he was.
He was always there for everyone, family, neighbors, colleagues, or friends. If they ever needed anything, he would never say no.
He was a man of few words; he expressed his love through his actions. Our family never lacked anything because of the hard-working man he was. He enjoyed his work; and had a passion for plants. He always seemed to be able to draw upon boundless energy to make sure his children did not lack essentials.
If we missed his call, he would always leave a voicemail. “Call me back” “I love you” I am grateful for them now, because we can still hear his voice.
To say he was loved would be an understatement - and to say we’re going to miss him would be an even greater understatement. Thanks, Babe. I know we will see each other again soon. Don’t forget to keep your promise to me and continue to watch over us, because we still need you.
