Freddie Dale Anglin, 88, of Hemet, CA, passed away on Thursday, April 2, 2020, in Hemet, CA. He was born on January 22, 1932 in Volga, WV. He was the son of the late George Blaine Anglin and the late Gladys Mae (Burner) Anglin. Freddie served our country proudly in the Army during the Korean War, achieving the rank of Corporal. Before retiring in 1989, he was a heavy equipment mechanic for over 20 years. Freddie was preceded in death by his parents and his siblings; Wilford B. Anglin, Janice L. Dickenson, William D. Anglin, Rubie J. Anglin, Paul W. Anglin, George B. Anglin, Jr. and Robert H. Anglin.
He is survived by his loving wife of 67 years Mary, his children, William & wife Angela Anglin of Prescott Valley, Arizona, and Donna Young of Hemet, CA, along with four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
When asked about his service in the Korean War, Freddie said he was trained as a medic for eight weeks at Camp Pickett, VA after his basic training, then 10 days after getting married in March 1953 he was shipped off to Korea. Even though he was trained as a medic, he said “they gave me an M1 rifle and a machine gun and put me in the infantry” where he spent some time near the front lines.

Originally from West Virginia, Freddie moved to California with his wife Mary in 1960, ending up in Bakersfield after pointing to a spot on the map. Freddie had many jobs over the years but he became a “Master” Mechanic with expertise in everything from cars to large hydraulic road paving machines. He was a proud member of the Operating Engineers (Local 12) for over 50 years.
The family plans to inter Freddie’s ashes at the WV National Cemetery in Grafton, WV in the future.
