Beth Allyn Erickson

Beth lived her entire life in the Pasadena, California area. She attended Roosevelt School when it specialized in educating developmentally disabled children. She graduated with a high school certificate. Beth loved her time at school. She was raised as a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. As a family we understood that she came to this world perfect. She was able to teach each of us more than we could teach her. We are each trying to live up to her example.

In her late 20’s, Beth moved from the family home to Crippled Children’s (Ability First) Crown House. A young couple, Daniel and Sandra Trevino, was hired to be the house parents for the group home. Beth lived at Crown House for about 32 years. During her time there, Danny and Sandra also raised their children among the residents. They always showed their love and support of Beth and her family. She is survived by Daniel and Sandra Trevino, Daniel Jr., Joshua, “little” Sandra, and Daniela...her second family.

Beth loved to spend time at Mom and Dad’s home. She loved all babies, especially nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. Her ears perked up when anyone mentioned a trip, even when they were trying to plan the trip on the sly. She would mentally pack her bags months before the actual trip. She loved to get on an airplane or in a car and go anywhere, but she especially loved to go to Utah or Washington to visit family.

Special thanks must also be given to all the friends and family who helped love and care for Beth. These include Suzanne Hanna and Bonnie and Allen McAlister. Without their help, Beth’s life would not have been as full.

The Sunday before she died, she spontaneously joined the ward choir to sing, “How Gentle God’s Command.” These were some of the last words she spoke or sang. The choir director said, “While she was singing with the choir, I felt the spirit as strong as ever and was never distracted by her singing. It sort of captured the essence of what choir is all about — which is we are all children of God singing praises to Him.” Beth spent her life exemplifying the love of Jesus Christ.

Beth is preceded in death by: her grandparents, Julia and Victor Erickson, and Everett and Edna Capes, her parents, Newell and Ruth Erickson, and her sister-in-law Lauren Somerfeldt Erickson. She is survived by her siblings, Leslie (Ward) Ireland, David (Paula Joyce) Erickson, Nancy (Greg) Allbee, and Lisa (Neil) Harrison. She is also survived by Christian Bettwieser, Stephen Bettwieser, and Summer Bettwieser, Brooke O’Neill, Lara Erickson, and Emma Erickson, Jeffrey Allbee, Michael Allbee, Kate Mejia, and Allison Bockholt, Alexis Perez, Rachel Hansen, Bryn Webb, and Eric Harrison. She is also survived by many great-nieces and great-nephews.

A funeral service will be held in her honor March 7, 2020. The viewing will be at 9:00 a.m, with the service following at 10:00 a.m., both at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 11790 Perris Blvd, Moreno Valley, CA. Interment will be at Crestlawn Cemetery in Riverside, CA following the service.
