Janet Kay Johnson was born September 13, 1942 in Hayward, WI the daughter of Theodore and Bernice (Koerner) Johnson. Janet graduated from high school in Hayward and then attended Barron County Teachers College before going to the University of Wisconsin, Superior where she received her Bachelors of Elementary Education. Janet started as a full time Elementary School Teacher in Bruce, WI. After several years in Bruce she moved to Ashland, WI where she taught for eighteen years. In 1987, Janet retired and returned to her family home in Hayward. She was a member of Alpha Delta Kappa womens educators. She enjoyed her time with family and will be remembered for her heart of gold.
Janet is survived by her cousins, Richard (Julie) Johnson, Kenneth (Mickey) Johnson, Terry (Joey) Johnson, Joyce Ingbretson, Robert Koerner Jr., Patricia Kilian; and one aunt, Arletta Pearl Johnson.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Placing family, friends and those in need above all else, Janet was always kind, always positive and always generous. Her words lifted spirits, and her actions spoke volumes about her character. She lived and loved, followed God’s word, and inspired others to do the same. Janet touched many hearts. She will be deeply missed.
