Mitty was born on March 29, 1925 to his beloved parents, Minnie and Morris Mitler. He shared also a cherished relationship with his sister, Estelle.
He attended the esteemed Bronx High School of Science and graduated 2 years early to become the youngest commissioned officer in the Navy at that time. Mitty fought bravely and proudly for our nation during WWII.
Following the war, he dedicated his life to his love of 75 years, Barbara Zuckerman, also known as BZ. From their loving relationship proudly came two daughters, Marcie and Wendi. He is survived by his wife, BZ, his daughter Wendi, grandchildren Sam, Noah and Erica, and 2 great grandchildren, Jack Oliver and Adella Minnie.
Mitty was predeceased by his parents, Minnie and Morris, his sister Estelle, and his daughter Marcie.
In his career he was widely recognized as a top man in the textiles industry. Following his retirement, you could find him at Metropolis Country Club charming people on and off the golf course, tennis court or answering questions about his antique automobile, a 1953 Mint MG convertible.
Most people who knew Mitty came to appreciate his unusual and unwavering magnanimous spirit, a characteristic of infectious proportion. Mitty always was interested in the well being of his family and his friends - always wanting to ensure that they were well and that they knew how much he loved them.
We would like to thank Corey Rabin, Esq., our dear family friend, for his steady support, and our home healthcare nurses, Joan Parris and Arime (Amy) Roberts, for their constant, capable care and their gentle nature.
A memorial service will be held at Metropolis Country Club at 11am on Wednesday, December 18, 2024.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to honor Mitty's life to the Susan G. Komen Foundation of Breast Cancer Research,
13770 Noel Road, Suite 801889, Dallas, TX 75380 (http://www.komen.org).
