born October 1, 1920 on the Lower East Side to Lena and William Cohen, and a resident of Scarsdale, NY for more than 50 years, died July 16, 2017. Beloved husband of Stephanie Kaplan Cohen, father of Charles Kotler (Gigi), Cobby Cohen Shereff (Charles Blumenfield), Amy Cohen Bauman (late husband David), beloved grandfather ("Pop") of Joshua Aidan Dunn, Hannah Kotler, Rebecca Shereff Martin (Gideon), Daniel and Elizabeth Shereff, Samuel, William, and Rachel Bauman. Also survived by loving and devoted nephews, nieces, cousins and dear friends. Predeceased by his siblings Abe, Betty, and Lee. Studied in Yeshiva; graduated DeWitt Clinton High School; then studied at St. John's University and St. John's Law School. Enlisted and served in the United States Navy in England and Northern Ireland during World War II. Turned job as a Works Progress Administration (WPA) milkman into a career in commodities trading, growing the business into international wholesale importing from Belgium and Australia. Oldest surviving member of the New York Mercantile Exchange (NYME), serving several terms on the Board, both as Secretary and Treasurer. Tennis player until age 94. Lifelong gardener of plants and family. Loved his life and his family most. Funeral service Tuesday, July 18, 2017 at 11:30am at Westchester Reform Temple in Scarsdale, NY, followed by interment at Mt. Eden Cemetery in Valhalla, NY.
