Ryan loved people. He was known for his giant smile, hand claps with hugs, and a large infectious laugh. He was always ready to laugh at himself with others. Ryan was happiest surrounded by friends and family. Everyone was his “good homie”.
A Celebration of Life service for Ryan will be held at Hill Crest Memorial Funeral Home & Park in Haughton, LA on Saturday, September 9th at 10:00AM. Dr. William Viser will be officiating the service. Visitation will also be held at Hill Crest Memorial on Friday, September 8th from 5:00PM - 7:00PM.
Ryan was born October 4th, 1975 and spent his formative years in Brazil. He was a talented musician, composer, and performer. Ryan was a member of the Stiff Necked Fools band, produced and released his own electronic music, and performed at both domestic and international venues. He had a talent for music at a young age. In elementary school he was introduced to music with his father’s trumpet and joined a jazz band at the American School in Rio de Janeiro. His love of music continued to develop in junior high where he received many awards. In high school, he was selected for the Arkansas Youth Symphony. Following high school, he was chosen by the Continental Brass to tour abroad in Europe. His music touched the lives of many people in numerous shows, concerts, and performances.
Ryan graduated from Ouachita Baptist University (OBU) in 2000 with a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology. He met Vanessa at OBU and they were married in 2003. They recently celebrated their 20th anniversary.
He was a Honorary Paul Harris Fellow in Rotary International and a member of the The Sigma Alpha Sigma fraternity. His hobbies were wakeboarding, white water paddling, and spending time with his pets.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents John and Janice Viser and Carbon and Jerl Dene Sims.
He is survived by his wife Vanessa Viser, his parents Dr. William and Susan Viser, his sister Lauren Newhouse, brother-in-law Jeremy Newhouse, niece Scarlett Newhouse, his father and mother-in-law Ernie and Sandy Kalnasy, brother and sister in-law Ernie Jr. and Sarah Kalnasy.
