A Celebration of Life service will be held for Warren Stroud on Tuesday, December 13, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Haughton, 105 E. Washington Avenue, Haughton, LA 71037. Officiating the service will be Rev. Gevan Spinney, Pastor, and will be assisted by Rev. Melton Prothro. Interment will follow at Hill Crest Memorial Park. The family will be receiving friends on Monday, December 12, 2011 from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. at Hill Crest Memorial Funeral Home
Warren served in the National Guard from June, 1948 to November 1950. He was also a Staff Sergeant in the United States Air Force from December, 1951 to December, 1955. He worked for SWEPCO (Southwestern Electric Power Company) from 1949 to 1990, when he retired as Shift Supervisor from Swepco’s Welsh Power Plant in Cason, TX. Warren was also an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting and fishing.
He was preceded in death by his parents Harrison and Ora Stroud, first wife, Jessie Stroud and grandson Aaron Stroud Mitchell.
Warren is survived by his wife of ten years, Lillian Stroud; son, Russell Stroud and wife Debbie; daughters, Carole Mitchell and husband Steve, Christi Brinker and husband Rick; grandsons, Doug Stroud and wife Crystal; Dustan Stroud and wife Misty; Jason Bloxom and wife Lindsey; Ryan Bloxom, Adam Mitchell and wife Angela; and nine great grandchildren. He is also survived by sister, Lois Walker; step-daughters, Karen Ariemma and husband Vincent; Debbie Eneix and husband Stan; Becky Weeks and husband Kyle; step-grandchildren, Ryan and Logan Eneix, Patrick, Brent and Matthew Ariemma, Lauren and Olivia Nieto.
Pallbearers will be Doug Stroud, Dustan Stroud, Jason Bloxom, Ryan Bloxom, Adam Mitchell, Bruce Walker, Bill Walker, and Jeff Walker. Honorary pallbearers will be the Men’s #1 Sunday School Class of First Baptist Haughton.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to Drs. Daniel Moeller, Michael Durci, and Ben Quinney with Willis Knighton Hospital and to the staff of Grace Home.
